Zoom Whitening: About the Product

After a comprehensive assessment to check and ensure your suitability for teeth whitening, your Zoom whitening treatment is carried out by an experienced and qualified dental clinician in one of our fabulous locations.

Your appointment time will generally vary between 60-90 minutes and we have clinics open in both Traralgon and Berwick.
We will thoroughly explain the process and answer any questions prior to treatment to ensure that you are well educated and that it’s the right treatment for you.

Before and after treatment, we’ll take a shade and image of your teeth so that we can accurately record your results. With Zoom whitening we can achieve up to 8 shades whiter for you!

Zoom Whitening

Your gums, lips and cheeks are completely protected & a comfortable mouth piece is worn throughout the treatment. The bleaching gel is then applied to your teeth and is accelerated using the Zoom WhiteSpeed LED Lamp for up to 4 x 15 minute cycles.
A relief gel is applied to your teeth after treatment to help hydrate your teeth, reduce sensitivity and lock in the results.

The Zoom WhiteSpeed LED lamp has an adjustable intensity setting, allowing each treatment to be tailored to our patients needs, helping to minimise sensitivity and maximise the results for our clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Whitening Republic and other beauty clinics that offer teeth whitening?
We use Philips Zoom Whitespeed, Australia’s leading whitening product and our treatments are performed by experienced and qualified Dental clinicans.

Philips Zoom uses 25% hydrogen peroxide and requires a suitability qualified clinician to administer the product. Non dental based whitening procedures utilise a maximum 6% hydrogen peroxide and does not require a clinician to administer the product.
How long do the results last?

Over time due to many factors our teeth will continue to discolour. We will however guide you with the very best tools and techniques to maintain and keep your pearly whites white for as long as possible. We generally recommend a yearly touch up at a reduced price to best maintain optimal results.
Will I experience sensitivity?

Some patients will experience sensitive teeth and gums for up to 48 hours following their treatment. This is a natural response to the dental whitening treatment and is not detrimental to the teeth at all.
How long does the treatment take?

The appointment generally takes 80-90 minutes. Bleaching gel is applied to your teeth and is accelerated using the Zoom WhiteSpeed LED Lamp for up to 4 x 15 minute cycles.
Is professional teeth cleaning important before whitening?

If it has been more than 12 months since your last professional clean then the answer is generally yes. A professional dental clean can remove accumulated plaque, tartar and other debris along with reducing inflammation of the gums. This will allow you to maximise the benefits of dental teeth whitening, which results in a better outcome.
Can I whiten my teeth if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Unfortunately, we cannot whiten your teeth if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What can I eat and drink after my teeth whitening procedure?

The first 48 hours after treatment are critical to ensuring your whitening results are maintained. Following the whitening procedure, the teeth become more porous and therefore absorb more of the pigment to which they are exposed. This means that it is critical to avoid dark colour foods and liquids that may stain your newly whitened teeth. We recommend following a white diet during this time and will provide suggestions to support this.
Am I suitable for whitening if I have a front filling or artificial replacement?

Generally speaking only natural tooth enamel will whiten which means if you have any artificial replacement the results can be unpredictable. At times teeth whitening may be benefitical if the restoration is lighter than your enamel however we would suggest a initial assessment prior to scheduling an appointment.
Will teeth whitening cause any damage to my teeth?

Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under supervision of a dental clinician is safe and will not damage tooth enamel.

Aftercare Instructions

Our Aftercare instructions have been designed to assist our patients in the care of their new smile following their Zoom Whitening treatment, prolonging the results and minimising re-staining or discolouration.

Any questions can be discussed prior to and on completition of treatment with your treating dental clinician.

Your teeth are most vulnerable for the first 48 hours after treatment. During this time we ask our clients to adhere to the following guidelines to achieve the best possible results.

After your Zoom Whitening treatment, a ‘Relief Gel’ is applied to your teeth and it is recommended that you avoid eating and drinking for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow the product to remain in the saliva, helping reduce sensitivity and improve the result. This can continue to be applied every hour.

Follow a ‘white’ diet.

Drink clear fluids and eat white foods such as rice, creamy based pastas, chicken, fish, potato, cauliflower, cheese, banana, bread, wraps, rice cakes or yoghurt.

Do not drink or eat anything coloured such as red wine, coffee, tomato based sauces, curry, soy sauce, beetroot, berries and chocolate.

After 48 hours continue to limit your consumption of these foods in your daily diet or rinse your mouth afterwards with water and drink any dark beverages through a straw.

Other
  • Do not use brightly coloured lipsticks for 48 hours.
  • Gently brush your teeth with desensitising tooth paste and a soft bristled toothbrush to help reduce tooth sensitivity.
  • Do not brush and floss aggressively as this can wear down soft enamel after treatment and irritate the gums.
  • If you are a smoker, it is recommended that you abstain from smoking for as long as possible or quit to avoid nicotine stains and protect your overall health.
  • Maintain a good oral hygiene routine, which includes brushing and flossing twice daily.
You may experience some tooth sensitivity during this period. If you do, the relief gel can be applied as required or your standard pain relief may be beneficial.
